2015 Tournament

DSAM’s Tee It Up for Down Syndrome annual charity golf tournament was held on August 3, 2015 at the Deer Run Golf Club in Victoria Minnesota and we could not have asked for a more perfect day.  The weather was sunny, temperatures were in the low 70s, and the course was lush and green!

The scramble format for the tournament made the day enjoyable for a wide range of golf skill levels.  Any even non-golfers joined in the fun by showing up for the silent auction and dinner.

Over 100 golfers joined us this year for lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf, the silent auction and a fabulous chicken and steak dinner.  The awards were announced at the dinner: best scoring foursome men and women; longest drive; longest putt; and closest to the hole.  A number of fabulous prizes are also awarded to lucky raffle prize winners.  Everything from bottles of wine to golf outings were included in the raffle.

Participants could bid a number of fun items at the silent auction.  There was an impressive selection of theater and cultural events which included tickets to the Acme Comedy Company, Jungle Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, Guthrie Theatre, Minnesota Historical Society and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.  Food and drink opportunities included Woullet Bakery, Summit Brewing Company, Sonora Grill and Café Latte.

Gold sponsors at this year’s event included:  Greiner Construction, Minnesota Air, Inc., Minnetonka Pediatrics and Republic Services, Inc.  Our silver sponsor was Boger Dental.  Bronze sponsors were Bouquet Companies, The Pointe Grill and Bar, Bill and Lori Nugent, Sunny Days Therapy, Drazen Henke and Associates and Advance Therapy.

The Tee It Up for Down Syndrome event is a huge undertaking and thanks go out to chair Kaye Koelker Baumgardner and committee members Dan O’Connell, Brandon Yerxa and Lindsey Nelson.

If you are interested in serving on the 2016 Tee It Up for Down Syndrome committee, please contact Kathleen Forney at the DSAM office 651-603-0720 or Kathleen@dsamn.org.  Also, we are always looking for more sponsors and silent auction items…let Kathleen know if you have ideas that the golf committee can pursue.
