The Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk is the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota’s single most important source of financial support. Thanks to what you and thousands like you did last year, we raised more than $200,000 to support Association activities, such as our Regional Conference, Grandparents and Youth & Adult Conferences, financial support to more than 23 parent groups, new and expectant parent packets, books and videos for new and expectant parents and more.
Online fundraising is easy! Just go to dsamn.donorpages.com/StepUpWalk2013 and follow the links to create a personal fundraising page in less than 5 minutes and start raising money faster than through offline efforts. It’s free and you can include a personal message, an optional photo or video, personalized web address and message to and about your friends and family. You can even get widgets for your Facebook page or blog to let your friends and family know about your fundraising efforts.
WIN AN IPAD
It is not a requirement to raise funds, but we’d sure appreciate it if you’d gather pledges or make a donation. And again this year, to show our deep appreciation, all who raise $5,000 or more on behalf of the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota will have their names along with those who raise the same amount or more entered into a drawing for an Apple iPad. All you have to do is have your donations recorded on your fundraising page OR turn your pledge sheet into the Down Syndrome Association offices by September 20. Donations received after that date, while deeply appreciated, will not be counted toward the drawing minimum.
You may register for the Step Up Walk online at dsamn.donorpages.com/StepUpWalk2013 or by downloading the Step Up brochure above and mailing in your registration.
FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT
Everyone that registers by September 20th will be guaranteed a lunch for the number indicated on their registration. When you check in the day of the walk (at the registration area), you will be given tickets for your lunch. There is no charge for these bag lunches nor is there a charge for the gluten free lunches you need to order. If you register after September 20th or prefer not to order a bag lunch or just walk up the day of, we will have food that can be purchased from vendors who will be with us all day, including: mini donuts, bratwurst, hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, and more.
There will be face painting, moon walks, kids’ games and lots more! Plus, Step Up Walk entertainment has become a huge part of the day. This year our main stage will again feature the indie kids rock group The Bazillions.
The Self-Advocate committee is once again holding a food drive at the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk. Committee members will be gathering your food donations at the Walk and then delivering them to Catholic Charities in St. Paul.
Committee members suggest that you also donate a pair of socks for those in need. All socks collected will also be donated to Catholic Charities. If you have questions please call the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota office at (651) 603-0720 or (800) 511-3696. Or email Stepup@dsamn.org.
We look forward to seeing you at Como Park on September 30th as we celebrate our 15th Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk!
