Does the walk happen rain or shine?

We are hoping for a lovely, sunny September Sunday, but we will hold the walk even if it rains.

What time does everything start?

Registration opens at 10:30 a.m., the Walk starts at 12:00 p.m. and the free bag lunches, if you have requested them, will be served following the Walk.

Do I have to check-in?

Yes, pledges are turned in at the check-in area; we also need to know the number of walkers who are with your team so we can estimate the number in attendance. If you requested bag lunches on your registration you will receive your lunch ticket at check-in.

How long is the walk?

There are two walks. The long walk is approximately two miles and the short walk is a little over a mile.

What is the cost of the lunch? How much does it cost to attend?

There is a $15 registration fee per family. As part of your $15 registration, lunches are provided as well as all of the family activities during the event. If you choose to pass on the bag lunch, there are several food vendors to choose from, including burgers, brats, french fries, cheese curds, and more. Event t-shirts may be ordered for $6 each for most sizes and $7 for Adult XXL and XXXL sizes

Is there a deadline for registering?

Yes. If you wish to order t-shirts, please register no later than September 1st. The deadline for preregistering for the walk is September 22nd (bag lunches will not be provided to those who register after this date). Walk ups are more than welcome the day of the walk!

What should I bring?

A hat, sunscreen, bug spray. Bottled water is provided at no cost, but it is always a good idea to bring your own. We prefer you leave your pet at home, but if you must bring your friend, please be aware that all animals must be kept on a leash at all times.

What time should I arrive at the Midway Pavilion?

Check in starts at 10:30 and the Walk begins at noon. Lunch is served immediately following the Walk.

Where can I park? There is a shuttle bus which will be running between Bandana Square and the park (from 10:30 to 3:00); parking at the Bandana Square ramp is free. There are surface lots and street parking around the area of the park, but please be careful of “no parking” areas. And, please observe the parking directions at the bandana square ramp – use of that facility is generously donated by Wellington Management. Watch for parking directions from volunteer parking attendants.

How are my pledges used?

Our Walk accounts for one half of our operating budget – your pledges help support all the programs and services of DSAM.
